7 Useful Blog Topics for Fashion Bloggers

If you have been blogging as long as I have, quality content is something that is always on the top of the list. With a whole world of great topics out there, you would think there are endless things to write about. In reality, brainstormed unique ideas that haven't been passed around the mill can become hard,if not impossible. With the number of fashion and beauty blogs growing daily, the fight to keep readers loyal becomes a knock down, drag out race. Like the fashion world, blogging is cut throat, so you always have to keep fresh, interesting content luring readers to your blog. Having been in the same spot myself, I have decided to make a great and easy to refer to list that will keep your brain full of great ideas.

1. Write about the brands you fan girl over.

Writing about designers is always a great outlet for an informed writer to pour out their knowledge. Readers flock to information about the ''it'' designers as well as current trends. Pick a few of your favorites and you can even create a fun series of posts that will keep readers coming back for me. A great place to polish your knowledge is Style.com

2. Blog about less know fashion companies and designers.

Everyone likes to be in the know about up and coming designers, as a fashion blogger, readers look to us as an outlet for tagging new and interesting clothing lines that they can be the first the get dibs on. Blogging about a few new designers or unique new trends out by lesser know designers is a great way to put you on the map. Like I mentioned before, people are always on the look out for the ''new''.

3. Blog about other fashion bloggers.

Link up with other bloggers and share the spotlight. A great way to get new readers is to network with like minded fashion bloggers. Post about how much you like their blog, and send an email inviting them to check it out. This usually results in a post back about your blog, or at least a social media mention. It also let's other bloggers and readers know you are genuine and aren't out to steal all the spotlight. No one like an attention hog!

4. Be in the know on upcoming fashion trends.

This is a must! As a fashion blogger, being an aware of upcoming trends is vital to keeping readers aware of your blog. Even better, if you are one of the first fashion blogs to post about the trends. Everyone is using the internet these days! Magazine sales are falling as many readers flock to like minded fashion bloggers for their fashion sense. Pick a few trends you, yourself know you would wear, and rock it!

5. Blog about street fashion.

Forget runways, most people don't care about that overpriced, haute couture stuff anyways. Most readers out there are everyday people and are looking for trends that work with everyday life. Imagine if fashion bloggers only promoted Givenchy or Alexander McQueen, though both wonderful fashion houses, but are unrealistic to most people. People want to see posts about how that can up their everyday wardrobe without looking like a hot mess. Fashion is something alot of people don't understand, so being able to relate to the everyday reader is key!

6. Sales

No faster way to a woman's heart than thru a good sale. Go through your favorite brands, and come up with a list of sales! Everyone loves to save money, so your readers will really love you if you can point them in the direction of some discounts.

7. DIY Projects

Are your crafty? Can you make a designer inspired piece on a budget and rock it? Girl, get those scissors out, and see what you can come up with. Women are always looking for the cheapest ways possible to get up to date on trends. The best DIY's come from those pieces that are timeless! Look around what is currently hot and see if you can make something fierce. Don't forget to take great photos!

Looking Chic on a Budget

If you are a woman you know that looking your best doesn't always agree with your wallet. With bills coming in, a dwindling economy and basic day to day expenses, setting aside money for a great wardrobe isn't in the works. I get asked all the time how I manage to look my best, and though many people think I spend hundreds of dollars on the latest fashions, that's not the case at all. Just like many of you, I don't have an endless bank account so getting the new looks takes so clever and some very easy tricks that will surprise you. Here is my list of the top 5 ways to look your best for less.

1. New fashions aren't as new as you think.

Alot of people would be surprised to learn that alot of the fashions in style today were once big years ago. Scarves, skinny jeans and high waist pants have made a huge impact lately, among other years old fashions. Take the time to look through some of your mother or grand mothers old wardrobe, as you will be surprised what goodies you may find. Vintage items are also make a big come back so grandma's costume jewelry could be that accessory you have been looking for. To beat it all, you can't get any cheaper than free!

2. Thrift stores are a girls best friend.

You might be surprised what you might find and your local Goodwill or other thrift stores. As people try to extra money any way they can, you will see more and more people consigning clothing out in exchange for fast cash and here is a great chance to score some great items for nearly nothing. Many thrifts stores will offer a variety of high quality, brand name items that could form the basics of your closet. Everyone needs a cute black dress or some cute pumps and this is the best place to find a large variety of items!

3. Closet swap with friends.

You just saw your girl friend and she is rocking out that new blazer you were eyeing in the mall last week. Instead of glowing with envy, get the nerve up and ask if she is willing to loan the item you want to you. Other times your friend has had her eye on one of your items so an exchange can be alot easier than you think and it does save alot of money, especially if you don't want to make permanent purchases for your wardrobe that you wouldn't get the most use out of.

4. Learn the value of online shopping.

Yes I know online shopping isn't the same as actually going to the store, seeing the item and trying it on, but you will be surprised to find its many advantages. Many stores offer alot of products that are exclusive to their online stores that you would miss out on otherwise. Also, you have the chance to score with coupon codes, discounts, and promotions! Being able to reach people from the convenience of their home is a wonderful and FREE marketing tool many retailers take full advantage of as many customers are switching over to the online stream, so don't miss out while everyone is saving on their favorite brands. Sign up for news letters, follow brand Facebook pages, and save!

5. Don't spend alot of money on trends.

With new fashions coming and going in the blink of an eye, its hard to try to keep up with every look we like. My number one rule for my closet is to spend money on items that will work regardless of the current trends. Clean cut blazers, great fitting jeans, and black never go out of style and just a few examples of trends that never go out of style. Keeping your focus on a very flexible wardrobe will allow you to easily dress up with new trends as they come without wasting money on things you won't wear for long. Focus on accessories as these are the cheapest items to get when the newest fashions roll in!

Fashion Bloggers aren't all the same

Tweet This is a stigma that has irritated me since becoming alot more involved in the world of fashion blogs. I spend quiet a bit of time browsing over  tons of blogs, and most of them simply bore me to death. Yes, I understand you like clothes, but your countless posts of you in pretty clothes does not inspire me to get more involved in your blog. A blog should consist of substance, I want to read about different brands, tutorials, your input. I want to feel involved in your work, not just see a hundred pictures of you in the same tacky outfit. Bring me, the reader, into your world. I want to understand your style, how you interpret fashion.

There are a few main things I look for when getting involved in a fashion blog. I have broken them down into a few sections. Also note, this is note a guide and I am not telling you how to run your blog, but this is MY little corner of the internet so I am going to give my two cents.

Content, content is everything to a blog. I love to see people go out of the traditional path of writing and add their own personal spark. Personality will keep readers coming back for more. Don't be a walking billboard for brands. Yes, I love to see your pictures of your creative outfits, I love seeing new fashion statements, but add some substance to your post. Give me some interpretation of how you put the look together, what inspired you.You have to set yourself apart from everyone else or you will just blend into the background.

Get involved with your readers. I love seeing bloggers answering questions, giving style tips and engaging with their readers. Your readers are not just another 'follow' button, they are the ones that keep your blog popular, they spread the word about your content, therefore they should be close to the top on your list of priorities.

Have a good layout. Simple and chic is the best. No this does not mean that everything has to be white, actually I rather do not like the color, but you do not want alot of obstacles taking the readers focus from your content. Also, brands like to see an organized and simple palate, it is a reflection of yourself and people will notice.

Blog about topics people can relate too. Yeah I know that fashion week is great, its also a wonderful way to get readers from all corners of the world focused to your blog. It's an example of something alot of people can relate to. Give readers a reason to want to read your content and to keep coming back for more.

I hope this little bit helps you in your writing. Just keep in mind, ''Would I keep coming back?'' Remember the readers and you should have no problems being successful!
